    Data Security

Data Protection:  to comply with the Data Protection Act 1998, I am registered on the Data Protection Register.   click here to check my registration online

Data Loss:  To ensure data is not lost, three Psion 5's are used with compact flash memory cards.  Regular backups are made to an Apple laptop which is itself backed up regularly to CD-RW.  Psion 5s are very reliable, but should one unit fail or be damaged then it's stored information can be transferred to one of the backup units in a matter of minutes.

Encryption of Patient Data:  Patient data is encrypted and password protected at the end of each locum to comply with the Data Protection Act 1998.  Unencrypted backup files are deleted at the end of each locum and are not transferred to CD-RW.
