Nonin
9500 Onyx Finger Pulse Oximeter
The smallest oxygen saturation meter you can buy, and one of the cheapest
.  The Nonin finger probe SaO2 monitor is a self contained unit the
size of two small boxes of matches.  Clear display shows SaO2 and
pulse.
Cost:       about £350-£400
Advantages:
-
works on two AAA batteries
-
no cable to become damaged (the most common cause of failure in other units
in my experience)
-
works on children over 1 year old (but see below)
Disadvantages:
-
no alarm, so if your monitoring a patient you need to have someone keep
an eye on it all the time.
-
difficult to use on small children because there is no choice of probes
- the manual says it works on children 1 year and older, and although I
have managed to use it successfully on a child of 1, it is difficult.
-
the unit could be easily misplaced/broken due to its small size (see tips
below)
Tips
-
attach the neck cord to the oximeter and then tie the cord to the loop
inside the supplied carry pouch.  This will reduce the risk of losing/damaging
the oximeter.
